I saw the headlines when the iPhone 5 first came out that the apple stores can swap out the cracked screens now instead of having to replace a phone. What's this cost?

They don't swap the glass in store, they do that when the phone is sent for refurbishing. If you have Apple Care Plus, its $49. If you don't, its $150-200.

Sorry to hear about your iPhone!

The "Geniuses" aren't really that helpful anymore. They are very quick to just swap out a refurbished phone then to take the time and fix it. Maybe someone else on here will have more info.

From reading this article, looks like the design of the iPhone 4 (and 4s) made it difficult to change the screen, even for the Geniuses.

Looks like the iPhone 5 design made it easy again.
