At work today while in one of the stalls in the toilet area I was standing over the toilet looking at some photographs I had stored on my phone.

Nothing wrong with that you may say.

Well while enjoying myself I suddenly felt quite light headed and dropped my phone into the lavatory.

I see there are many many other threads on this forum from people who have been in a very similar position and wondered what is the general consensus on the best way of drying out my phone and ensuring droppage doesn't occur again?

First

Dont try to turn it on. Leave it to dry for at least 48 hours.

Urine has terrible corrosive qualities and you may find that even if it it will boot after drying out, long term damage has occurred.

If you are technically able, I would remove the battery too.

If not, and it's not under AppleCare I guess hope like he'll......how much got really wet?

Careful. You'll go blind enjoying yourself! Then you won't be able to see your iPhone.

Those photos most have been of really important matter :D as you couldn't have waited til after the toilet to view them..

Get the phone into a bag of uncooked rice and don't touch it for a few days.

Every time I see an iPhone dropped in toilet thread, I just shake my head in disbelief. It's nit that hard to keep a hold of your phone. Plus OP, if you want to "enjoy yourself" then stop looking at the tiny iPhone screen and use an iPad instead :D

Lesson learned. Sit down on the stall next time you're enjoying yourself in the bathroom.

But seriously, you're going to want to take the back off and unplug the battery. If there's a short on the circuitry, some chips will get very hot, and may even break. If you need the phone now, take the PCB out and rinse it out with rubbing alcohol. Better to do that now than before corrosion starts.

Look at the guide on iFixit if you need to do that.

My little nephew dropped his clothes with his iPhone 4 into washing machine two months ago and had they washed together.
At this moment, the situation was still not very bad -- the most terrible thing is, then he powered on the iPhone.
Of course the machine went on strike.
However, fortunately he had it repaired finally. Someone replaced the screen & asked for $150.
Now that kid's iPhone 4 can run Fruit Ninja again.

I would also go to your doctor and ask him why you near passed out while enjoying yourself over the toilet.;)

I've heard that putting the device in a bag of rice helps to suck up the moisture. That said, if you dropped your iPhone in a toilet your best bet might have just been to flush and buy a new one. I'm not sure I'd want to press that phone against my ear ever again...

If he brings it to Apple won't they just replace it for $199 if he has an issue with it? I thought they did that, take the broken unit hand you a refurb for $199 on 16GB model and $299 on 32GB models?

A few days? I wouldn't want to touch it ever again after it had been soaked in a pool of steaming urine. :p

I can't even imagine putting it up to my face to talk on it, I would be constantly grossed out. Burn it! Burn it now and cut your losses!
