iPod touch Dropped iPod touch and then home button stopped working a month later

Ok, so last month I dropped my iPod and got a small dent on the left corner of the case. A couple of days ago, the home button stopped working! Does this void the one year warranty? And do you think the drop and the unresponsive home button are related?
 
Just take a wander to the apple shop and say it stopped working dont say you dropped it and they normally dont even ask.
