I have an 8GB and it's an 4th gen touch. I dropped it on my hard wood floor with out meaning too. It slid out of my hand an hit the ground I think screen side down.

Now on the right hand side of the top of the screen and is kinda rectangular yet oval with little dots in it with a line slowly growing across the top.

Is it going to die on me? It was my birthday gift from my parents (18th) and we couldn't really afford it but they got it for me anyway. I can't afford to get a new screen at the moment and I need it to keep in touch with a couple friends who are having a hard time.

Help? Any tips?

No warrenty?
But iPod Touch 4g replacement screens aren't expensive on amazon (less than $20)
Buy that and ask a tech buddy or look it up online how to replace it.
Usually when you mess up the screen it's done for.

To both of you:
Bless you for taking time to reply to me! Thank you!

My first replyer:
New screens are that cheap? Wow. My only tech buddy is in South Carolina sadly and my family tech buddy's hate apple.

To second replyer:
I tried screen capping and it didn't show. When ever it was turned off you couldn't see it. I also started this from my iPod. XD

This morning after removing it from its case and letting it charge with out it the marks are almost gone. Now just a couple dots here and there. Rather weird.

Glad to know it is getting better, but I think your iPod should be fine because I think the screen just got pushed into the back lighting of the display.
I get this when I press hard on my iPod touches screen in the corners.
If you can tolerate the few dots then you don't have to replace the screen.

Omg I didnt think about my screen being pushed back into things. THANK YOU. It's down to two tiny dots that look like dirt so it seems to be fine now.

Omg I'm glad I found this! I dropped my iPod 4gen yesterday and it's doing the same thing you did. All I have to do is charge it without the case? And should I turn it off or leave it on?
