dropped my MBA......

so i was just showing off how thin the MBA was to a friend and BAMMM
i dropped it from about 4 feet, it hit the corner of a table and then fell to
the hard ground.




AMAZINGLY, the shell of the MBA did not suffer a single dent or scratch and it still looks like it is in mint condition. Still running fine!

Not possible, it's not a Thinkpad. Only they have good build quality.

Everyone knows the Air is light and will snap in half easily.

It's obvious just by looking at the pictures.

(I'm being sarcastic and sending up the muppets on Digg and other such sites)
 
Dropped your Mac Air

Hey are you going to post the video in slow motion showing the whole thing? How about pictures of you picking it up and looking at it and showing there was absolutely no damage!!! Awesome Man/Woman!!!

Does this have the SSD drive or the standard 80GB drive? If it was the standard, that is awsome that it did not hurt the drive!

If it was the SSD... that is to be expected but still great that it did no other damage to the rest of the machine.

Glad to know it is sturdy... mine should be getting here next week!

The 1.8" drives typically have a higher shock tolerance because their bits (head arm..) has significantly less mass and therefore less inertia.
Same's true with 2.5" v. 3.5" drives.

Wow, you were lucky this time.

Glad to hear that it still works fine.
 
Really, not even a single scratch? Can you really examine it to be sure? I'm curious; I'd like to know how scratch- and dent-resistant the body truly is.
 
not a single scratch.
believe me, i've looked
over it and over it with
disbelief.


i only find it strange because
the other day i accidently hit
next to the trackpad with the
magsafe adapter end and there
is a TINY scratch but nothing
extremely evident.

Don't you be dissin' thinkpads. Ever. ThinkPads are my favorite non-Apple notebooks, in fact, I'm using one now.
 
And have you learned anything from this exercise, apart from that MBAs are more sturdy than they look? Like how you end up looking like a prat when you show off? Hope so :)

You'll be pleased to know if you read my post properly that I am not. :D

I'm "dissin'" something else, but not the Thinkpad.
 
Well I don't think it's wise to drop it albeit unintentional but I'm happy to hear it is ok.
