So, yeah, I dropped my iphone 3g on the floor and the screen just fell off, after googling a bit I'm not quite sure if I'm ****ed or not.
The cables 1, 2, and three are connected to the screen part, and when I try to put them back and the screen together, this is what happens:
First time: Screen shows stuff perfectly, touch screen barely works.
Second time: Screen shows stuff but randomly turns white, touch screen does not work.
Third time: Touch screen works a bit better, screen shows stuff.

I'm just wondering, do the cables have dfferent assignments, and if so, which one is responsible for the touch part?

#1 is the lcd
#2 is the touch screen
#3 is the proximity sensor

its possible you dont have them connected properly. its also possible you did some slight damage when you dropped the phone. make sure they are snapped in firmly but dont force them. when you close the screen assembly make sure you put the top end of it in first. then close the bottom. otherwise you may be slightly unplugging them.

Hmm, the showing works just fine, but the touch screen only works well on top of the screen, if it's longer down, I have to hold the finger down a long time (Which make games unplayable)
Is my three week old iPhone really ****ed? Is there something I can do?

If you were that clumsy, why didn't you buy a case? There might be a repair store, but the cost to fix might not be worth it.

I have a case, but I didn't have it on. >.<
Well, this sucks badly, how much would repairing cost?

EDIT: oh thank god, it more or less works now, or well, the "3" wire (proximity sensor) Is unplugged, because getting it in was a bitch, but i really don't care.
From now on, I'll leave the phone in my locker when I go to gym class, and never take off the case again!
