I have a tiny nick on the edge of the screen (glass)
wondering if there is a way to "polish" it to make it less noticeable ?
Like most of us, I'm pretty anal about keeping my stuff clean so this is really bugging me.
Even thinking about replacing the LCD & digitizer, but to be honest that process makes me a little nervous.

It doesn't sound that bad. Frankly I don't think you could polish it out.

Coming from someone who used to fret about these sorts of things (a lot) too- let it go. Consider this your first battle scar of many to come, and let it liberate you into a care free iPhone owning experience.

At least until the next iPhone comes out

Polishing it will just make it worse

If it's important you could take it to a glass shop and see if they'll smooth it out. Unless you're in danger of cutting yourself my guess it the repair will look worse than the chip.

Glass is far too hard to just polish out the nick without seriously deforming the area around the nick as well. It works on metal because metal is much softer by comparison (well, metals like aluminum and steel). I agree with PNutts. Unless it's a danger to you, leave it be. You could also simply get a case for it. That's one of the first things I did after I got my 4S, I got an Otterbox case so that if I did drop it, the danger of damage is lessened.
