Couple days ago I dropped my iPhone X (I normally keep it in a case, but every now and then I take it out, in this instant it was out unfortunately) - It landed on the side, there was no crack or scratch of any kind, but a large beam of light has developed on the left hand side of the screen...strange

That particular side of the screen still works fine - I was just wondering if there is any fix for it?

I’m also worrying that, in a few months I’m due for an upgrade and I normally sell my current handset to put the money towards the new one, and at the moment at least, some websites can offer me £250 for my phone - now the wording is working with no cracks or damage, this doesn’t have that, but would this “beam of light” void that? Would it be classed as “damaged”?

Yes, of course that's a screen damage. These lines are a typical defect for an OLED screen - I see it with a lot of Samsung Galaxy phones. There's nothing you can do except swap the display.

You could try and sell the phone on craigslist as a damaged device for $200 and see if anyone bites but screen replacements are pretty expensive for oled screens..

Thanks mate, I live in the Uk - so I suppose I could try eBay? Is that the good Craigslist equivalent?

someone on twitter said to me that they got the same problem with the light on the side of the screen, took it in to their local Apple store and they fixed it for freeb because he said apparently it’s an issue with iPhone X’s - I don’t have an Apple store within 1hr 30 of where I live so I don't want to take it all that way to then be told, you need to pay for this sir

I’ll take a look on eBay
