broke my S3 sadly dropped it one time too many. seems no one repairs them, apple just post you a new or refurbished one. so I am weighing up paying €190 for this and probably waiting a week or so too, or do I just bite the bullet and get a S5? I do like the bigger screen and it gets more faces and its faster..... but will I really notice the difference especially when S6 comes out and I don't have the 'new' model?

If you have access to Black Friday deals on the S3, I vote get a S3 and then wait to see if you want the S6

I would say the S5 compared to an S3 is a big upgrade, but why not an S4 on sale ?
The price would be in between, and the performance are almost identical to the S5.

How bad is the damage? If the screen is cracked but the lcd is still good, you can consider a 3rd party repair store which often do this repair for less than 100 bucks. If you cracked the whole screen (no image/lines/partial function only), it's getting expensive. 3rd party screens for the S3 42 are around 120-160 bucks. Not sure if Apple Pay will be affected when doing a swap as the NFC chip sits on the display.

went for the 'repair' €208, the wife said why didn't you spend the extra and get the new one...torn... I haven't paid for the repair yet.

Get a new one. You are putting money into something that isn't worth the cost of the repair. You can probably find used S3's at that price all day (€208).

Sell the broken one for parts, then. You can easily get 35-40 bucks for it, if it's the 42mm with LTE, you can get even more.

itll be a new one anyway, they don't repair them, but its another €280 to get a series 5.
