Under Macintosh OSX .DS_Store holds the information which controls the way a folder will be opened; i.e., the shape and size of the window, the position of the window on the desktop and whether file, folder or icon view has been selected. If you were to delete the .DS_Store the folder would revert to the system default next time it is opened and a new blank .DS_Store would appear (invisibly).

You don't need it at all dude.

ok so perfectly safe to put the restrictions in place? also how will it react if ti cant place the file on there

It shouldn't be a problem. It for some odd reason the restriction gets in the way, you can take a second approach and tell the Macs not to create the things.

I dunno, guess there's only one way to find out... ;) Let us know. :p

Is there a reason as to why you want to block this filetype? Think of it as a thumbs.db file on Windows XP. It ain't hurtin' nobody.
