I know what it is, so I know simply deleting it won't help. I don't understand why it's suddenly showing up on the desktop though! Help? More of a nuisance than anything.

Enter the following commands in Terminal:
defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles FALSE
killall Finder

why are you displaying hidden files?

why are you trying to delete files that you do not know what they do?
Why do you assume I don't know what it does? Why are you posting useless comments in people's threads without answering their question in the slightest?

Anyway, thanks for the tip, GGJstudios. I turned on Show Hidden Files in Path Finder a while ago, since I find it useful sometimes, but I have no idea how it got turned on in Finder. I figured that's what had happened, but I couldn't find a checkbox anywhere in Finder's menus to disable it.

Disable show hidden files in Finder.

There is no setting in Finder to show or hide hidden files. It can only be done through Terminal commands. My guess is that Path Finder executes the Terminal command to show them, which would also affect Finder.
