Of course the files can be hidden, that's not the point. You can also hide a bullet wound with a cloth napkin but that doesn't mean it isn't there. Anyway, there are good reasons to show hidden files, such as catching a huge vulnerability like this...
For those of us who don't want a perpetual log of every folder ever created (etc) has any figured out a way to actually permanently delete or reset this?
Honestly, I would not have gone with OS X if I knew about this. Someone in another thread recommended OnyX, but that doesn't do the trick. Nor does MacScan, IceClean, TipToe, Cocktail, Yasu, or saving the .ds_store file with modified or blank contents.
