I'm driving down Thursday to pick up a PowerBook and iPod, they told me that they had all three G5s in stock.

I would call back and make sure if I were you. The salespeople at the Plano store are quite useless, so you might want another person to doublecheck.

The store is nice though. So is the mall (Willowbend).

maybe they only have 3 units in stock? Nevertheless, i hope people start getting their orders soon, so we can see some benchmarks, and people who didn't preorder can start to think about getting one.

Why do they have one in Plano and not one in Austin.

If there was one on the drag they would sell iBooks like hotcakes.

in a few hours, i am going to set up a dual G5 for one of my clients

i am a pc techie and i love to work with the occassional mac...so easy to set up and configure

i helped set up a dual mirrored door G4 for him not too long ago...and many others before that

i can't wait:D

edit:

12:56 pst/lunch break...the thing rocks and it only has 512mb of ram in it

it is a little quieter than the dual 500 G4 tower

the dual 1 ghz G4 tower is much louder than either machine

later this afternoon, i will add 2 gigs of ram to the G5 machine and then we will see even a faster machine:D

I'm sure it's because D/FW is a larger market than Austin and the Plano/Frisco area is one of the hottest retail areas in the nation. Maybe there's a bit of a Dell backlash working against Austin too (although yes I do know that there is an Apple call center there as well). ;)
