The time has come for an extra display and I'll appreciate some advice from those with multi-monitor setups.

The aim in mind is productivity I currently have a 30" display but could use another for palettes etc. and since i like to have a lot of windows/apps open.

Should I add two 23" displays? or add another 30" ? Which have people found more productive?

thanks :)

If you had the space I would say two 23" monitors as it might be better for organisation.

Primary monitor for what your using then on your left the palletes and on your right monitor you other programs you have open (like a project brief or some photos or safari)

Also on my acer laptop :p I found a program that really help with productivity. It's a snap to screen utility called gridvista, I'm not sure of a mac equivilent but on a quick search i've found a better program called zonesize (only 212kb). Not sure about a mac version or similar program though but since I'm soon changin to a macbook and external display I'd also like to know if one is availible

my opinion ;)

Dual 30"s would be a workspace about 55" wide.

One 30" and 2 23" would be about 70"

Get a big piece of cardboard and cut out the shapes of these two workspaces and put it in front of you so you can realize how ridiculous it would be to have either.

this is what I have running with my gaming desktop PC

Dell 3007WFP-HC (2560 x 1600) with Dell 2007FP set to portrait (1200 x 1600)

The monitors physically and resolution wise line up perfectly

haha wow 55" and 70" wide is rediculous :p

those 30" and 20" displays line up well!
I'd say thats the way to go, a 20" portrait looks perfect for palletes.
