local seller off of craigslist. NOTE: ive read threads on this forum where you guys say buying a power pc (non intel) mac is stupid because it will be outdated soon enough. however, i do not do graphic design or anything. i use the computer for email, porn and other BS like that. i am currently running a dual core 1.25ghz G4 (mirror door drives) with 2 gigs of ram. i saw an add on craigslist for dual core 2.3 ghz g5 for $600. here's the specs, let me know what you think.

2.3Ghz PowerPC processor
OS X 10.4 – Tiger (you will receive both install discs as well)
512mb RAM with slots for up to 8GB max
SuperDrive (burns and reads CD-R/RW as well as DVD+/-R)
Slim White Keyboard (I do have the original if you like that style better, but it’s somewhat dirty)
128MB GeForce videocard
3 Firewire ports (two in back, one frontside)
3 USB ports (two in back, one front side… there are two more on the keyboard)
1/8” audio out/in jacks
CAT5 connectivity
DVI and ADC
250 Gig HD

The only thing is that i would have to upgrade the RAM. i have a Western Digital SATA Terabyte drive that i can put into it from my old PC. Will this be a good upgrade?? Thanks.

Sounds great to me. Put some extra ram in that guy and it would have no problems with Leopard (but I think Tiger will always be the fastest). I paid 700 for my 2.0DC G5.

thanks for the reply, and youre right actually dual not dual core. so its a good deal the only thing left is RAM and airport card. do you know which airport card goes with the g5?

Airport cards for that model is relatively cheap (30-50 on ebay IIRC). If it was a DC model, I would tell you not to waste your time though. :p
