Dual core vs Quad core ?

Hi, I am a second year in Computer Science and I was looking to buy a new Mac. I really love the 13 inch but I have a strong feeling it will only be dual core. Just for school purposes and maybe the occasional side project, will dual core Ivy be enough ? I don't need the larger screen due to an external monitor and I'm not much of a gamer.

Dual Core will suit you fine. It's really a shame that you have to spend close to $2 grand to get a quad core processor in 2012.
