Dual Display mac G4 power pc issues?

Please Help

I'm using a power pc mac g4 667 mhz

as a graphic designer running only a 17" lcd display i feel the need for another screen BUT! when attaching a crt monitor to the (HD-15) port next to lcd port on g4... my lcd screen is as normal but system prefs wont recognize the crt screen?
all plugs fit perfectly?

there is no option in system prefs/display so i'm stuck
cant find any dual display patches for power pc towers though there is many for the ibooks .. please help!?

What OS are you using? If you have OS X 10.3.3, there should be a "Detect Displays" button in System Preferences, or you could just restart the computer with the monitor attached and connected. If it still doesn't detect the monitor, then something's not right--are you using an adapter?
