Hello everyone,
Quick summary for those who are not fans of reading;
My computer will not output a video signal to my hdtv - unless I physically unplug and plug back in the dvi>hdmi connection. The auto-detect displays feature on osx does not seem to have an effect.
For a more detailed explanation of my situation for anyone still with me:
I have two displays on my macpro.
My first output is a standard 23" cinema display. works fine.
My seccond is a 42" samsung hdtv. To output a signal to this, i bought a dvi>hdmi cable.
When I power up the tv, the main computer screen flashes blue as if it detected something.. but no image actually appears on the tv screen. the tv displays a standard message saying 'looking for signal'.
From here, I have to physically unplug the hdmi cable from the back of the tv, and plug it back in... then the computer finally recognizes the tv, the tv appears on my list of displays on the computer, and the computer then starts outputting the image to it..
I guess I'm wondering if anyone has ever seen this before? I would assume the computer should recognise the hdtv as soon as it is powered on, and i shouldnt have to actually unplug and plug it back in.. perhaps I am doing something wrong.. any display software / settings, hdmi switcher hardware that could potentially help? My goal is for the computer to recognize and start outputting a signal to the hdtv as soon as it is powered on.
Thank you for reading and thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
-Ryan
