I bought a Mac Pro (One Quad-Core) in April 2008 from Apple.

I had a GeForce 8800 GT in there for the dual DVI to use dual monitors.

However, yesterday the card died. Red dots on the screen, yellow squiggly lines followed by locking up after a few seconds to minutes of booting the machine.

The problem is the 8800 GTs aren't available ANYWHERE right now.

So, I'm looking for a replacement.

I ordered this yesterday on a whim (I saw several people with this listed in their profile as working with Mac Pro): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003XQFXBE/ref=oss_product

Can anyone confirm that the EAH4870/2DI/1GD5 works with my Mac Pro?

IF not, what are my other options?

It might work, but you'd have to flash it. There's also a 4870 available from Apple, as well as the 5770.

You might also try baking your 8800 GT. :)

A little late for asking about compatibility, don't you think? :D:p

Anyway, if you don't wanna mess around with flashing and want to have a card that just works, buy the Apple 5770.

$250 for the same performance as the 4870 and with three display outputs for up to 3 times 2560x1600, and yes if you wish three times DVI with the right adapters.

You'd be nuts to buy another Nvidia 8800, they are all prone to the same failure.
