Dual iMacs or iMac and TB and Mini

I'm replacing my 2011 iMac on my monitors in motion BOAII with a 2013 27"iMac with VESA mount, OWC memory upgrade and 768 SSD. I currently have a thunderbolt display this has its own mount to the BOAII, now being in Dubai we rely on airplay to our apple TV for iplayer and sky TV (UK) so I'm have been using my 15 rmbp as a dedicated iplayer airplay server, since I am still working whilst the wife watches eastenders!!!! I want to use the rmpb as a laptop for one of my employees, since I have a 13 rmbp that I use as my portable. So should I buy a second iMac to replace the thunderbolt display and then use target display mode when I need both displays, when my wife wants airplay I can disconnect, I'm aware that this could have its limitations the TB support for TDM is flaky to say the least from the research I have done, I do limited parallels with windows just for Arabic support on Word. Alternatively since I have two TB ports on the TB display I could use a mac mini, disconnecting the mac mini when not in use, but having read the Apple support document I think I will have to reboot each time I want to switch displays.

Anyone have any experience of two 2012 iMac's together? Any other suggestions how I can benefit from dual screens and two mac's when I need them?
Thanks in advance
