Hi all:

We have a third gen iPad and an iPhone 5, both in Otterbox Defender cases (we have kids). My wife would prefer to replace the next of charging cables on her nightstand with a charging station that will charge both the iPad and iPhone. Her criteria are:

  • Clock display
  • Be able to accommodate the devices in their Otterbox cases
  • Stereo

We're not looking for audiophile quality out of the stereo; the ability to play music off the device would be nice.

I've been looking at an iHome station (e.g., http://www.amazon.com/iHome-Charging-Stereo-Charge-iPhone/dp/B00COHALOM/), but I'm not sure the iPad would fit on top in its case. Does anyone know if it will? If it doesn't, will purchasing a dock extender (e.g., http://www.amazon.com/Cosmos-Extender-30-Pin-Converter-iPhone/dp/B0089GXGWQ/) work?

Or are there are other stations that meet our criteria better?

Thanks for the help!
Brian

Don't think what you're looking for is available. Otterbox cases make devices mostly undockable. However, the Everdock will allow for double docking for charging. Looking forward to getting mine.

I think finding any docking solution with those cases is going to be challenging.

How about a Bluetooth clock radio and just plugging in to charge?

You may take a look at RavPower 4-port charging station. It meets what you need I think.
