I plan on hooking up my 2 dell 3007wfp 30" monitors to the new RMBP once it arrives.

Ive got hold of 2 dual link display adapters - Can anyone tell me what the USB port is used for on the adapter? Is it only power or data transfer?

Can i say plug the USB on each of the adapters to a usb wall plug rather than use the USB's on the MBP itself?

Thanks

False Information:
It is for the USB hub on the back of the 30", that's at least how I understood it. Still don't know, how the two Firewire 400 ports worked though.

Look at TEG's post for the correct one.

The USB on the Dual-Link connection provides the extra power that would be included when connected to a Dual-Link DVI port, but are absent in a DP or mDP connection. It is also possible it is for data modulation on the video output so the two fields that are being sent don't overlap.
