So I've been prowling for the forums for days... and I'm baffled.
Is there a answer??

Does anyone one know which card I need in order to have dual dual-link DVI??
Or is it something that's not quiet possible cause the firmware is taken from or based on Apple's original 4870??

I don't think anyone has been prowling the forums as much as I have since I am trying to do a 4870 crossfire setup. From what I understood the XFX cards were the most compatible and some people were reporting that both DVI ports were working when flashed, 1 dual link and 1 single link. Those are the cards that I ordered.

If this works I'll have an Apple 4870 up for grabs at about $250-300CAD (or about $120-170 cheaper than apple sells).

That won't help me... I'm currently running with triple 30" panels via 8800 and Mac Edition 3870. However the 3870 isn't 100% reliable, it'll occasionally crashes the system :( So... looking for an alternative.

Quite frankly, if you can afford three 30" monitors I don't quite see what is holding you back from buying the Radeon HD 4870 Mac edition...

However, a flashed Radeon HD 4890 / 4870 should work fine in Snow Leopard.

Works for Me

I'm using a flashed XFX 4870 1G card (ZHFC model from Newegg) along the GT120 that came with my 2009 Quad-core - all works great and I have it configured like this:

Slot 1: XFX 4870
- DVI 1: Dual-link - driving 30" HP LP3065
- DVI 2: Single-link - driving 24" Dell 2407

Slot 2: Geforce GT120
- DVI: Single-link - driving 24" Dell 2407

It all is working quite well for me - both in Leopard 10.5.8 and now in Snow Leopard 10.6
