dual monitor help

is it possible to run two monitors on my 1st gen silver aluminum macbook with mini displayport? i have a 22" hooked up to it but would LOVE to hook up an additional external minitor. is there a splitter of some sort i would need? f so what do i need? thanks in advance

From what I have read, it isn't possible unless you use the display you have and the lcd built onto the laptop.
