Its the first time I've used dual monitors so this maybe a "feature" rather than a problem.
When I'm playing games (in OSX) the 2nd monitor on my Imac/LCD setup just goes black for the duration. Is there a way to stop this or is it something to do with the way the games obtain their rendering context?

Cheers

yeah, it's normal - essentially the game engine takes over the whole graphics output of the machine. It would slow things down if it allowed your second screen to show the desktop (although some games can use both screens). Its the same reason why so few games allow play within a regular GUI window - there's a big performance hit to do it.
