Dual monitor resolutions...

So I'm trying to figure out whats the best thing to do here...

I have a Viewsonic VG2230wm 22" LCD and a Viewsonic Graphics Series G220fb 21" Flat CRT monitor (square obviously) running in a dual monitor configuration.

I am running the LCD at native 1680 x 1050 and it's beautiful.

However my CRT is giving me a slight headache in that it's seeming to squish things a bit when I run it at 1280 x 1024...

Can anyone suggest a res. that might be better for me to try than 1600x1200, because at that point things seem just to be a little small for me, though they are more square.

Suggestions?

What you probably want is 1280x960--that's the correct 4:3 ratio for an old-shaped monitor. 1280x1024 is common, but it's actually 5:4, hence the non-squareness.

Alternately, you could use 1152x870 (also 4:3) if you want slightly lower resolution.

Note that if these aren't showing up as options, you might need to use one of the 3rd party tools that let you add "unsupported" (but working) resolutions to monitors that aren't showing them for whatever reason.
