Hi All.

I have the maxed out 16" MBP and am considering getting 1 (or perhaps 2) Pro Display XDR's to go with it.

I would really like to get two of them, but does anyone have experience of this set up? I know the machine can technically handle it, but will the fans be spun up all the time?

I guess I am keen to know if anyone has this set up and feels that their machine is coping ok or if it is always at high load?

Many thanks

I've read the any external monitor causes the GPU fan to spin up. Let alone a Pro Display XDR.

You can probably mitigate this with a BlackMagic eGPU (when the updated model is released) + daisy chaining a Pro Display XDR to it. Not sure how two would go.

Because the dGPU is always on, the fans spin up a lot more often that when the laptop is used standalone.

I have the same config as you do, I’d say it really depends on what your doing. I do iOS development in Xcode through the day, which is CPU intensive in bursts. With the XDR plugged in, I hear the fans more than I wished for. I would imagine two XDRs to be worse.

For web browsing or non-CPU intensive tasks, the laptop plugged to the XDR is mostly silent though.
