im in the midst of starting a dual screen setup...
i know about the screen spanning doctor,
and the cable neede is coming along with an ibook deal i worked out for my cousin.
im just wondering what people who have dual screen setups think,
i have an eMac which is crt, so should i go with another crt?
im thinking since im one a budget (100$), a 15" crt would be cheap.
but not a beige crap one, im thinkin a studio display.

Not to burst your bubble....but the eMac machines only allowed for mirroring the display. None of the eMacs were capable of doing a dual display. It's the mini-VGA to VGA output correct? All the models from 700-1.42 were only capable for mirroring what's on your screen. They aren't like the PowerMacs.

I'm not sure if there is a software out there that would override the capability, but i'm just letting you know to save you a 100 bux.

By the way, an LCD screen can be had for $100 if you look in the right places, like ebay's buy it now or craigslist.com and even in these forums. You can also check anandtech.com forums.

theres a software available for free called screen spanning doctor
and it allows spanning rahter than mirroring on emacs and ibooks.

It doesn't work if you have a non-ATI eMac. I think the nVidia eMacs, like the one I have, couldn't do spanning.

If you have an ATI eMac, then cheers and forget what I said.

CRTs are cheap these days. You could even scope out a school and ask. Schools usually have old Macs by the boatload, and they're willing to give the stuff they don't use free. Just an idea.

yeah mines the ati version.
hah funny you say that cause at school there was a bunch of old imacs, and i cleaned out the ram from them, and took a few keyboards.
they were just sitting there lonely as hell lol.
i kinda want to stick with another apple screen.
a 17" studio display would be perfect
