Hey!

Will this work?
My external screen is my primary screen, and the screen on the MBP is turned off. Can I connect another screen to my main screen via VGA?

No, you can't do that. The VGA port on monitors is for input only, not output.

Agreed. Props to OP for the effort!

There are a couple of solutions though.
  • DualHead2Go products, one of which may suit your needs
  • A USB to DVI adaptor (external video card, basically). Only problem with these is that the performance is awful. Still, it may be better than nothing, especially if you're just reading from the display.
