I know that the MacBook doesn't support Thunderbolt3, but USB-C alone with DisplayLink does technically support outputting to dual monitors.

Has anyone tried a good dock/hub that supports two HDMI/DisplayPort monitors that works with the MacBook?

You probably need to be looking at the big (non-portable) docks by Caldigit and OWC.

Most (all ??) won't support two monitors in "extend" mode when connected to a macOS computer because macOS doesn't support the dual-stream DP-Alt mode necessary over USB. Those hubs that do support dual monitors will only function in the "mirror" mode (both displays identical) on macOS while they may work in the "extend" mode on many Windows devices. Apple chooses to only support dual-stream on TB3 ports.

I’ve read that download and installing the DisplayLink driver on macOS should work to enable the functionality. I’m wondering if anyone here has actually done it and it works.
