Hi all,

I'm currently on Xfinity Mobile, but looking to switch onto a family plan with T-Mobile. I like the 50GB threshold before throttling, the free Netflix and other features. T-Mobile also has really strong service where I live and in the other areas I frequently visit.

However, for those times when I don't have T Mobile service, i'd like a backup plan that is cheap and doesn't require a second phone. I have an XS Max and just now found out about dual SIM. Coupled with Xfinity Mobile's by-the-gig plan, I could have the Verizon-like service as a backup for way less than $10 a month since i dont see myself ever using data on it. All that said, I'm curious what steps I need to take to make it work.

Do I need to port my current number with Xfinity Mobile over to T-Mobile and then get a new line (and SIM?) with Xfinity?

Yes, port your number to T-Mobile because xfinity doesn’t offer eSim. You can always disable data on the xfinity line so it will only cost you taxes only which comes out to be around $2.50 for unlimited calls/text.

I do what you’re thinking of doing.

T-Mobile on eSIM and Xfinity on the physical SIM.

It works well. :)
