This weekend I baked the motherboard in a G5 that had freezes and has other quirky issues (the long story is here). No surprise that the baking didn't help. Then I remembered there was a single CPU motherboard in my 'stock' (pulled from a machine w/damaged case, but never tested). So I swapped motherboards and after bypassing the password protected open firmware (thanks to this post) it lives!
