I'm gradually moving over from PC to MAC and PC is still my main worksation right now using a 49" Samsung Ultrawide G9.
I should be getting my Ultra hopefully today and got my 27" Apple display last week but foolishly only ordered one and need x2 as one screen is just too little real estate. (I ordered another but delivery won't be until June.)
So, I'm thinking of getting x2 XDR displays as can get them much quicker but theres obviously a huge price difference.
They are for my business so can get a little discount from Apple and they go down as an expense to my company and can get the VAT back but its still a big amount to shell out.
Are these really that good as looking at the Studio 27" compared to my Samsung G9, the image quality and text crispness is so much better on the Studio display. I do like/need the real estate too so the size of x2 won't be an issue.
For reference, I don't need the webcam or speaker quality of the Studio, just a nice big area for video/photo work plus excel, several folders open etc all open at once.

The other option is try and find a private seller selling a studio but that seems rare right now.

I have a room full of 27" monitors (mostly surplus, not hooked up) and an XDR and I can assure you that the difference is night and day. Of course, the cost is too, but what the heck. I have not seen the Studio Display yet, but it appears from all sources that it is the same *panel that is in my 5k iMac. And if so, then the new SD cannot come close to an XDR either.

If you can justify an XDR, then it is a done deal. I am retired and could not justify the purchase, but I did anyway and have no regrets.

*Edit. Sorry. I mean the same panel as the LG Ultrafine.

The brightness is not the same. So I'm not sure if it's really the same panel or a newer version of that panel. I heard that the LG Ultrafine 5K also suffers from image retention so probably not the same panel.

There are different models of the LG 5k. The newer ones don't have image retention, at least mine doesn't. The panels are not the same, but they look the same with the only difference being the higher brightness and the glass cover of the ASD.

Seems that iFixit tore down the Studio Display, let's see if they have more information about the panel model. Thanks.
Edit: it seems that iFixit has no information whatsoever about the chips / model number / supplier. Their teardown used to give a lot of information.
