well just got my day one 3G replaced due to the light-leak issue.

can anyone confirm that since the first batch of 3Gs did not have the rubber seal between the glass and bezel?

And because i'm Australian, i want to make some of you jealous ... (this didnt happen the first time)

yeah, optus contract, free unlock
My 1st iPhone 3G was unlocked taking about 10 days to do so and required a reset so i didnt get any messages through iTunes, but this time i did!!

How did you get it for free?

I have an optus contract, also an aussie, how did you get it unlocked for free?
Did you apply or something? And what was the 10 days about?
Cheers

i might do this as well just in case i need to use another sim. How do i go about the process? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated thanks

hi i'm very interested in this - i'm heading to argentina for 2 months - would like to get a local sim over there, assume i need my iphone unlocked ?!?

how exactly do you go about getting it unlocked (free)?

Thanks iCantwait

give optus a call and have your IMIE ready - if you dont have a contract it will cost $80

I just called Optus like you said, quoted my IMEI number and they said it will only take about 10 days for it to go through and be UNLOCKED.
Then I'll be able to use in on my trip to the USA where I have a local TMobile SIM.

THANKS heaps, you're a legend!

np, happy to help. and you just boosted your resale price by $500 :D
and i was recommended that you just buy a whole phone kit from AT&T and just keep the SIM as that is meant to be cheaper like $30
