So my Duet works fine going through a Glyph PortaGig FW 800 portable HD into a late '08 MBP (using an 800 to 400 cable).

However, I can't seem to eject the firewire drive before unplugging it and we all know how much OS X likes firewire HDs being unplugged while mounted. So if I go to shut it down it gets stuck in that moment where the finder has quit but you still see the desktop....if I do a hard reboot the computer won't boot up until the HD is disconnected (seems like its on hold...there's no indication its trying to boot off the HD...and there's no OS on there anyways)...so I unplug the HD and it carries on w/ the loading.

Huh? There's gotta be a better way than this everytime I want to do some recording. Is there possibly a driver I don't have for the HD? I would have thought it was a plug & play procedure w/ a simple FW HD.

EDIT: I just went and did a test and now it works, I could eject the HD....the Duet still works so I could then just unplug the firewire cable and the sound automatically switched over to internal speakers. Perhaps it was a one time thing. Haven't tried rebooting w/ the devices connected yet though.
