Dumb newbie question? Alter location of dock 'downloads' folder.

I'm aware I can alter it for Firefox and Safari, but how do I point the 'downloads' folder on the dock to the new location? Or is it a simple matter of drag and drop from the new location onto the dock and remove the old one??
Didnt want to experiment in case its a 'special' folder.

Yes. Just point where you would like the downloads to go and drag that "new" folder to the dock.

Technically you don't have to do anything with the folder in the dock. You can just move the Downloads folder where you want it. Mac OS X uses some kind of ID system so that the path doesn't matter.
