i have an iphone6 which should be carrier unlocked. ordinarily i use this phone on ATT.
i now have a T-mobile prepaid sim so that i can check if the phone is really unlocked. when i insert this sim on an unlocked iphone5, the phone just joins the tmobile network with no problems and i can send and receive calls.
when i insert this sim into my iphone6, the all the icons clear off the screen and the white "welcome to iPhone" screen comes up asking me to choose a wireless network... in other words, the screen you see when you first activate a brand new iPhone. eventually it tells me that the phone is activation locked and that i need to enter my iTunes password to remove the activation lock.
if i do this, is my phone going to be erased or anything dodgy like that? i ask because these are the screens you see when setting up a brand-new iphone. seems kind of drastic for just trying to use a new sim. or is this just normal for an iphone6?
thanks
