OK OK OK OK so the answer is probably on the internet somewhere.

I am a woman, i seek a basic answer, so be gentle...!

1, can the ipad2 connect with my imac (intel) over a wireless network?

2, can i 'rip' video files from a dvd and convert them to run on the ipad2?

3, is it possible to add any external storage to the ipad?

The forums are a place to ask questions. While certain questions can get repetitive, there should always be someone here who can answer them.

1. Yes, they can connect and preform certain tasks with each other.

2. Yes, put the video file (which the ipad supports) into itunes and sync the ipad to transfer it over.

3. No, I am fairly sure that there is no way to add extra space.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

1. Connect: yes and no. You can access youR iTunes library via home sharing, but syncing still needs the usb cable
2. Yes, google for 'handbrake'
3. Not really, unless you also count cloud storage like dropbox

1) Yes, depends exactly what you are after though, that's pretty vague. Splashtop will allow you to use your computer from another room on your ipad.

2) Yes, requires a couple of bits of third party software. Handbrake for example.

3) Once Ipad 2 is jailbroken then yes. Without jailbreaking, no. (Given the posts above, I'm not so sure of this now...)

Not sure. I think it depends on what you want to do.

There are plenty of threads around here about ripping video, and I ripped one myself, so yeah, it can be done.

The camera connection kit will allow you to access an SD card, but I think that's about it. Online storage, like Dropbox, is probably a better solution.

1. It can although I am curious as to what you expect to do once they connect. Perhaps the most basic thing you can do is Home Sharing, which iPad stream music and video from iMac.

For sharing files, you are better off using Dropbox, storing documents and other important files on iMac's dropbox folder.

If you want to view and control iMac, there are many VNC (remote desktop) apps for iPad.

2. Yes, use Handbrake. If you want to rip DVD using Handbrake, you will need to install VLC as well.
