Dumb Qustion---Turning off phone

in order to turn off dont you just hold the top button down until powers off I dont want to do a hard reset.

You hold down the button until you see a red slider at the top of the iPhone.Slide it to the right and it powers off.

pressing and holding the lock is how you turn it off.
