My understanding is the new quad-core MacBook Pro MAY be released in April.
Is there still a possibility of a dual-core MacBook Pro release sometime this Summer?

The 15 and 17 inch are already quad-core, and have been for over a year.

The 13" may or may not get a quad-core in the next iteration, only Apple knows.

And that friend only wants or needs a dual core MBP? If so, either look for used models using the C2D or i5/i7 CPU, or look at the refurbished Mac section of the Apple Online Store.

I'm sure he'll get the new quad-core MBP.
I just thought that if there were a duo-core 15 inch MBP coming out a little later, he might go for that.

As quad core CPUs are faster than dual core CPUs, Apple will not use dual core CPUs for their 15" MBPs anymore.
