Duplicate Data folder on Desktop

Mac, studio M1 latest version OS. Suddenly I have a duplicate users/name/desktop/Data folder on my desktop (exact).Is there a solution?
Any deletion from the duplicate, deletes from the actual. Acts like an Alias without being one as far as deletions. But you can open both side by side.

Interesting. Right click on each folder and select “Get Info”. Take screenshot of both “Get Info” windows side-by-side. Post screenshot.

Thanks, but I checked deleting the couple of files in there that were actually on the desktop, and they didn't delete there. And it turns out there is no "Data" folder supposed to be in that location – checked my laptop. Have no idea where they came from in the update, but deleted both (they asked for permission) with no issues.
