Duplicate 'Documents' and 'iCloud Drive' files?

I have my desktop and documents folders backed up in iCloud.
When I check the usage of my hard drive (About this Mac > Storage), it seems I now have the backed up files twice on my hard drive. Once mentioned under 'Documents', and once more under 'iCloud Drive'.
When I make the sum of all categories mentioned here, it indeed adds up to the total usage of my hard drive.
Can I fix this to have only a single copy of these files on my hard drive?
