I have approximately 500 GB of files in my iCloud Documents folder. All of it exists locally on my iMac, which has a 2 TB Fusion drive. I also have a MBP with a 256 GB internal SSD. For the sake of convenience of having all my files on my MBP without having to worry about downloading them on an as-needed basis (primarily photos that I edit), I installed Catalina on a 1 TB external SSD, which I use as my MBP's system drive. I'd done this previously with Mojave on a different external SSD, and all was well. This time, though, the iCloud Documents folder on my external SSD shows all the Documents subfolders ready to download, as it should -- but within "iCloud Documents" is a subfolder called "iCloud Documents on Ubele's iMac" -- which contains all of my Documents subfolders, ready to download. Obviously, I don't want to download 500 GB of files twice (they wouldn't fit on my 1 TB SSD), but I'm afraid of deleting the "Documents on Ubele's iMac" subfolder from my MBP's external SSD, because I don't know if it would sync and delete the iCloud Documents folder from my iMac. Any ideas?
