why do I have 3 separate icons for Preview in my Launchpad?? I know I only have one opt of the actual program!!

Duplicate Icons on Launchpad

Try clicking on them; two should display a question mark and allow you to delete them after that. If they don't do that, they you might have Preview in more locations than one.
