We got all of my parent's photos scanned & uploaded to iCloud. I'm now in the process of identifying people in them. Somehow one person has been added twice, but the name is spelled exactly the same in both instances. (so some photos are associated with one name, and the rest with the other, even though both names are exactly the same).

There doesn't appear to be any way to merge these two instances of the person. Has anyone else run into this & if so, did you find a way around it?

Thanks,

On MacOS Photos App -- click on both instances (select both of them via holding down the Command Key and clicking). Then click on your trackpad and select MERGE two people.

Thank you! Never would have thought of that.

Forget this it says it at the bottom of the page. I didn't scroll down far enough. Very useful though.

Hi
I don't think this it mentioned in the Apple support above- I couldn't see it anyway- but if you are scrolling through your pics and you come across a pic of someone with no name you can go to the 'info' icon in the toolbar- a circle with an i in it- and there you can 'add a face'.
You must have the image open, it doesn't work with a thumbnail, but you can add a circle to the image, position it, drag it to size and name it. Usually when you type the first letter you'll be presented with a list of names and then you can easily add an image to the right one.
The more images you add the better the recognition algorithm gets.
