Since updating to 10.10.3 with Photos, my existing iPhoto library has been duplicated when Photos was set up, so now there are two separate libraries with the exact same content. My question is, how can I delete the old iPhoto library and if I do, will it also delete the new photos library if they're linked in some way? Its all quite confusing as I thought the update just migrates the existing library instead of duplicating it!

Thanks

If you're not going to use iPhoto anymore it's fine to delete the iPhoto library. And the library isn't exactly duplicating it but it's using hard links to the actual photo files making it look like there are two copies of all the photos
