Is there a difference between merging the duplicates or deleting them, with regards to storage?

Also, I have photos that are duplicates with two different dates. If I choose to merge them instead of delete, where does the photo get saved, the original correct date or the secondary date?

Maybe this will help:

"Merging combines the highest quality version and all of the relevant data across the duplicates, and keeps that one in your library. The remaining duplicates are moved to the Recently Deleted album."

So you then free up storage by deleting the content in Recently Deleted. The date of highest quality version would be the date that is saved. The merged photo is in your master library of course, but if you're asking if both photos were in separate albums, where would it be saved? I don't know but it would be easy to do a single merge test (along with the date question you're asking).

No that’s perfect. Thank you very much for your help. I didn’t know that merging automatically deletes.
