iTunes copied my music folder into the iTunes Library. I have about 9 GB worth of music and when iTunes copied my folder. I have 18 GB of music on my harddrive since they were copied. I want remove the duplicates, how can i do this without changing my playlist or resetting my playcount and ratings??

are the duplicate songs not all on the same "date added"?

And am i understanding you correct. you originally had your songs in itunes but not in the default itunes folder and then itunes for some reason copied all your songs into its default folder?

iTunes Preferences -> Advanced -> Consolidate Library...

This will copy any music that isn't in the iTunes folder into it...making it safe to delete anything in any other location.
