I've just purchased a new iMac, and I'm trying to copy my iPhoto library from my Mac Book Pro via an external HD. Upon dragging the library folder into iPhoto on my iMac, my photos are duplicated several times. I don't know if they are already duplicated on my HD as I cannot preview them, or if it happens when I drag and drop the folder. I no longer have the pictures on my old Mac Book as I was trying to free up disc space awhile ago, and transfered them over to the HD.
Also, all my specs disappear in the process, and all the pictures end up in just one "event folder" dated back to Jan. 1st, 1970!
I have iLife installed on my new iMac, but I don't know how to use it yet, or if it has any significance in this matter.
I have already spent $43 purchasing a program called "Tidy Up", but I get frustrated over having to learn a new software to get the job done. With Mac, it should be easy!!! Help!
