Hey,

I know this question has been asked before but I would like some help on my specific case. I brought a 16gig second gen ipod touch from amazon.co.uk around feburary and I have noticed 3 large dust particles on the top right of the screen and a fair few smaller ones dotted around the rest of the screen. Now my metal case does have a small amount of damage where it was dropped on the bottom left corner (shots of the impact)...

(apologies for the sketchy images... its awfully hard photographing close up shiny objects:p)

and it has caused the metal casing to become slightly warped from the the glass front...

as you may be able to see the casing gets closer to the glass screen along the bottom and there is a small gap along the side. I can't head into an apple store easily as the nearest one is a good 100 miles away but would it be worth sending it back to apple for repair/replacement? Would they replace is considering the damage to the corner?

Thanks very much for your help:)

it could have been caused by the fall and it's probably what Apple would say and not fix. Your best bet is to open it up on your own, if the dust got in there, there has to be a way for it to come out, I know people opened up iPhones for this. Or if it bothers you so much, sell it by September and by the new one, if there is one.

would it be worth contacting apple via email with the photos. I don't believe the large particles have entered through this dent as they are right by the volume and power buttons-- i could try arguing this :s

anyone know how far dust travels before settling on a screen lol?

Thanks again!

I had a lot of dust under the screen of my first two 16GB 2G touch's. Didn't drop it or anything. Apple screwed me around with replacing it (mainly the person I set up the service with had no idea what I was talking about and said it was a battery flaw, so the Apple techs didnt even look at the dust), then when I got it returned it was dented and scratched. Sent it again and got a replacement that was just as bad...so I sold it and got a 32GB one.

have you had any problems with your 32gig touch? Could this be a problem just effecting the 16gig models?
